1 v 1 Movement to Receive

Set Up

Set up a playing area split into 4 squares.  4 players start on the outside with 2/3 balls each.  4 players start centrally, playing 1 v 1.  There is a mini-goal in each corner of the playing area, with 2 goals designated per team.  Central players are designated as receiving players and defending players.

The receiving players look to create space away from their marker to receive a pass from a team mate and score in 1 of the goals. If the defender wins the ball, they attempt to score in 1 of their goals.  Repeat until all balls have been played.

Progression

If defender wins the ball and scores, they become the receiving player

2 v 2

Coaching Points

Drag marker into one square and move into another to create space

Awareness of defenders position and available space to move into

Vary speed of movement – make the defender “sleepy” by slowing them down
